Renew Tampa
If you’re interested in historic preservation and green building there’s an interesting event coming up this week called Renew Tampa. It will feature presentations,
discussions, and exhibitors covering the built environment and green solutions for the
renovation of historic buildings and will take place April 11-13
at the Berriman-Morgan Cigar factory in West Tampa (1403 N. Howard Avenue).
From the press release from Renew Tampa:
Tampa Preservation, Inc. President, and Renew Tampa co-founder, Becky
Clarke observed “There’s something exciting in this program that continues
to build excitement—families weighing renovations in historic
neighborhoods will quickly find that they grapple with some of the same
challenges facing major architectural firms. What’s more, everyone can
learn from one another in Renew Tampa presentations and panel
discussions. Even more importantly, this event is on the cutting edge of
the “green wave” touching all of us across many disciplines, but it
personalizes it…in a home, a public building, or a memorable community
gathering place like the Belleview Biltmore Hotel in Clearwater. There’s no
greener building than one restored.”
On April 13 there will be a tour by bus of Tampa’s historic districts. The cost for the tour is $20.
