Run for Shelter in Ybor City

Friday, June 6

A 5K run hosted by the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser and the City of Tampa. It was rescheduled from it’s March date because of rain. The race begins at 7:00 pm at Centennial Park and registration will begin at 5:00pm at Centro Ybor. There will be an event after the run at Centro Ybor.

Creative Loafing Beer Club

Creative Loafing has what they call a “Beer Club” which seems more like a marketing vehicle but may turn out to be something worth while. The first one that I went to was at Fly downtown. They had a few beers that seemed like leftovers from a recent beer show but they did include some winter ales from Rogue and other craft brewers. The next Creative Loafing Beer Club event is Friday, June 13.

Hyde Park Village Live Music Series

The Hyde Park Village will begin its annual Live Music Series on May 28th with the band Shout performing. The concerts take place the last Wednesday of every month. The proceeds go to a different charitable organization, which hosts the event. The first concert benefits the Epilepsy Services, Inc.

Movie By The River

The Tampa Theatre will be showing The Wizard of Oz on Saturday, May 17 at Cotanchobee Park on the Hillsborough River. Gates open at 6:15 P.M. and the movie starts at 8:15. Popcorn, soft drinks, bottled water, candy, frisbees and picnic blankets will be on sale. (more…)

Spring Pond and Water Garden Tour

Pondscapes will be having its annual tour of ponds in water gardens in South Tampa this Saturday, April 26th from 10 AM to 4 PM. Pondscapes is a water garden center located at 4213 South Manhattan Avenue. It offers a large selection of fountains, koi, water plants, and supplies. They also offer a free monthly pond building class held on the last Saturday of every month at 9:00 A.M.

Pooch A Palooza

It’s a pet party in Hyde Park Village. I’m not sure what to expect from this but my dogs will like it. Lot’s of stuff to sniff and some treats to eat. Free “doggie” bags for the first 200 guests. There will also be a best-dressed pooch contest, doggie-themed karaoke, sandbox digging for treats, pet photos, food and drinks. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay will be there with adoptable pets.

It’s from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Hyde Park Village, 1509 W Swann Ave. in Tampa.

Taste Of South Tampa on April 27th

The third annual Taste of South Tampa will happening April 27 in Hyde Park Village. The hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. The sponsors this year include the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce with the Humane Society, the Hillsborough Education Foundation.

U.S.F. Botanical Garden Plant Sale

The U.S.F. Botanical Gardens is having its Spring Plant Festival this weekend, April 11 and 12. The hours are 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Saturday and 10: AM until 3:00 PM on Sunday. Admission is $4 (Free for members).

Bark In The Park

Our greyhounds are pretty excited about this weekend. On Sunday they get to chase the Easter Bunny and on Saturday is the 21st Annual Bark in the Park at Al Lopez Park. It starts at 9:00 AM and goes until 12:00 PM. Proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay provide shelter, food, spay/neuter services and medical care. The Humane Society receives no taxpayer support and relies on fund raisers and donations. (more…)
