Our greyhounds are pretty excited about this weekend. On Sunday they get to chase the Easter Bunny and on Saturday is the 21st Annual Bark in the Park at Al Lopez Park. It starts at 9:00 AM and goes until 12:00 PM. Proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay provide shelter, food, spay/neuter services and medical care. The Humane Society receives no taxpayer support and relies on fund raisers and donations. (more…)
If you don’t like basketball and traffic jams you might want to steer clear of Downtown and Channelside on Friday and Sunday. The NCAA Tournament will be taking place at the St. Pete Times Forum on March 21 and March 23. On Thursday there will be open practice and it is free to the public. (more…)
It’s St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, so that means the annual parade in Ybor. It’s on Saturday and starts at 8:00 PM. For the kids, there’s the Bunny Bonanza in Hyde Park Village at 11:00 AM. My greyhounds are really looking forward to this.
Over in St. Pete there’s the DaliFest. It’s on Saturday (15th) at 11:00 at the Dali Museum. They’ll have 6 live bands, lots of kids activities, food and reduced admission to the gallery ($7, children under 12 free).
Taking place this Saturday, March 8, is the sixth annual Kaleidoscope Festival and The Tampa Bay Rhythm Festival at Ballast Point Elementary School. The event features art, science and cultural activities for kids. The time is from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The Rhythm Festival starts things off at 10:00 AM so make sure to get there early. (more…)
There are lots of things to do this weekend and the weather should be perfect. On Saturday is the Hyde Park Home Tour starting at 10:00 AM at Kate Jackson Community Center. If you don’t get your tickets by Friday, they will cost $20. This is the major fund raiser for the neighborhood association and the proceeds go right back into the community.
Don’t forget to get your tickets for the 2008 Hyde Park Home Tour. It’s coming up on March 1. If you buy your tickets in advance they are $16, but if you wait until the day of the tour they will be $20.
The next few months are the best time of the year in Florida. It’s our spring time. The “cold” snaps are just about done and the breezes are a perfect touch to the balmy, sunny days. But you should make the most of it while it lasts because the heat and humidity are just around the corner. (more…)
