Do you want to brew beer? I’ve been interested in brewing since college, but a couple years ago my wife bought me a kit and ever since I’ve been learning everything possible about it. More than most people would want to know. A good way of sharing knowledge is to join a brew club. There’s a local club called Tampa Bay Beers which meets the first Tuesday of every month at Mr. Dunderbaks in University Square Mall.
You can always find something funny happening in Tampa. Last week it was the patas monkeys escaping in Lakeland. This week it’s a guy stealing a hot dog costume. Valued at $1,600? Holy moly.

I recently (re)discovered a blog about Tampa called Tampa I Am. He writes some pretty interesting stuff about going out to places and events around the area. It’s definitely more of the journal type blog than this site is. In his latest post, he takes some visitors from Colorado to the Green Iguana on Westshore, 717 South, Hyde Park Cafe, and the Dubliner. I added a link to his site in the Neighborhood Sites Section
OK. I know this doesn’t have anything to do with South Tampa, but it’s funny. Well, maybe not for the monkeys. But still, it’s funny. Lex Salisbury, the CEO of Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, has a wildlife facility near Lakeland where he keeps some pet monkeys and 15 have escaped and are out and about. (more…)
We were on the couch watching TV and all of the sudden the windows shook with a loud thump. It sounded like a large bird lost it’s way and came to an abrupt stop against the glass. We looked outside and saw nothing but someone walking by. Well today we found out what it was. It was a sonic boom from the Space Shuttle landing. (more…)
