The next few months are the best time of the year in Florida. It’s our spring time. The “cold” snaps are just about done and the breezes are a perfect touch to the balmy, sunny days. But you should make the most of it while it lasts because the heat and humidity are just around the corner. To help you take advantage the weather and give you a reason to get out, there are quite a few events coming up in Tampa. First is the annual Gasparilla Knight Parade this weekend taking place in Ybor City. Smaller than the main parade, this one gets rowdier afterwards, with all of Ybor in revelry.
Also in Ybor City is Fiesta Day on February 23. This festival is a celebration of the immigrants that came to Ybor in the 19Th century and contributed to the special flavor of the city. Their will be lots of food and activities to enjoy outdoors.
On February 27, the Gasparilla Film Festival kicks off at the Tampa Theater. For anyone who loves movies, this is a great event - a celebration of the best of today’s films showcased in a beautiful, historic building. The event runs until March 2.
The weekend of March 1 and 2 has two events. On Saturday and Sunday is the Gasparilla Festival of Arts taking place downtown at Franklin Street and Lykes Gaslight Square Park. And on Saturday March 1, is the Sixth Annual Historic Hyde Park Home Tour. The tour starts at Kate Jackson Center (Rome & Morrison) at 10: AM.
