Kayaking in The Bay Area

I really enjoy kayaking but I don’t go very often. My wife and I like to go out to Wheedon Island when we get a chance because it’s a quick trip from South Tampa and it’s a chance to see some the area’s flora and fauna. If you’ve never been out on the water in a canoe or kayak you’re really missing some of the best of Florida. I recently found a blog that does a great job presenting the best places around Tampa Bay to kayak. The author is Robert Payne and he’s from Reno Nevada.

On his trip he visited Weedon Island Preserve, Hillsborough River, Myakka River, Anclote Key and Fort de Soto. I’m not sure if he has moved here or is just visiting, but he already has a pretty impressive log of kayak trips. Check out his site and I think you’ll get the bug to visit one of these places this weekend.
